Thagoslontus devilosis
After moving further out into zone 3, it became clear that S. spinyensis’ spines were inadequate at defending themselves. Thus, they have now grown much longer and sharper to better ward off the large numbers of predators in zone 3. They have also become omnivorous, consuming all of the Taxonomum sp. present, however also using its tail to hunt and kill Hexapiscus herbimendus and small Naratesukus bonii. This is possible due to its large size of 40cm, easily overpowering their small prey. They reproduce very infrequently, only once a year, however the females may lay 15 eggs at a time. The young hatch at a size of 5cm and grow quickly, reaching sexual maturity in only 7 months. Once they become sexually mature, they will become more and more aggressive and actively seek out prey.
