Short Featherstalk
Descended from the spores of P. plumosa that reached Zone I. Only those with the thickest outer membrane and grew the deepest into the soil managed to survive. P. altumpellus has adapted to the hotter climate of Zone I by growing deeper into the soil to reach water sources further down, developing a thicker outer membrane to better hold water in, and by growing a shorter stalk, only growing about 6cm, that reduces the amount of surface area exposed to the elements. It still reproduces asexually using spore pods. The spore pods are similar to their ancestors except the hairs are slightly denser and they only burst open when there is rain or a foggy morning. Similar to its ancestor P. altumpellus still decomposes dead plant matter.
