Preparing your species[edit]

In your species submission, make sure to include the following information:

  • Species name
  • Ancestor
  • Zone(s)
  • Size
  • Reproduction
  • Food/sustenance
  • General description of anatomy, adaptations, and reasoning for this new species to develop
  • The color of the organism should be in the depiction or description

All derivations from the ancestor species must be justified, both in terms of why the features were selected for and how they evolved. Additionally, the description should be as standalone as possible, which means that key details from the ancestor's description that have not been changed should still be present in your description (for example, reproductive methods). This helps make it easier for other users to evolve off of your submission.

If you refer to a species by its common name in your description, follow the first mention with the scientific name of the species in parentheses. For example, "Primitive Sea Glider (Synacodurus primus)". Subsequent mentions do not need the scientific name.

Submitting your species[edit]

Once your submission is ready, submit it under the appropriate submission channel according to its kingdom. To see a description of each kingdom, use ?k <kingdom> (e.g. ?k musculata). The four submission channels are #palaea-submit, #synaplota-submit, #polyphtya-submit, and #musculata-submit.

The four main kingdoms are as follows:

  • Palaea (Palaeans) - Single-celled organisms with or without nuclei. Can be colonial.
  • Synaplota (Synaplots) - Often multicellular organisms with multiple cell types, typically with a zoospore stage.
  • Polyphyta (Polyphs) - Multicellular organisms with high to low cell specialization; they tend to be photosynthetic producers.
  • Musculata (Muscals) - Multicellular organisms with high cell and tissue specialization; they tend to have locomotive capabilities.

Review[edit]

During review, the Natural Selection Staff will add reactions to your submissions to indicate its review status. They key is as follows:
