Thanos' Standing Tower

Despite its name, Thanos’ Standing Tower is just a lowly marine polyph. Descended from Thanos’ Tower (A. pyrgus), Thanos’ Standing Tower is very similar to its ancestor except for one very important change--its roots. Thanos’ Tower had fairly shallow roots, which made it susceptible to being toppled by ocean currents. Thanos’ Standing Tower improved on this by making its roots longer, thicker, and more suited to rooting it into the sediment. Part of this was the transformation of its upper roots into a woody material, which helps to keep the polyph rigidly in place even if the sediment surrounding the upper parts of its roots gets washed away; when this happens, the exposed roots almost look like those of a mangrove. It generally grows in forest-like groups where currents cause their seeds to cluster together, and when the woody parts of their roots are exposed they can serve as excellent shelter for small muscals.

It is otherwise identical to its ancestor. It begins producing seeds 3 weeks after sprouting, at which point it looks nearly identical to Thanos’ Marine Grass (A. okeanus), but it continues to grow for about another 2 years or until toppled. It can grow up to 6 feet tall in most areas with leaves 1-2 feet long, averaging about 5 feet tall in rougher waters before currents become too much and make it topple anyway. Like its ancestor, it reproduces asexually and its dense seeds are distributed by ocean currents.
