Minotree

The Minotree (Porgatulus exilislignum) is a small polyph, that grows to about a meter tall before reaching maturity. The increased height helps it avoid predation from Headasses (Woramus spp.) and avoid competition with other polyphs. It has a woody stem to keep itself upright. They live in lower density on the smaller islands due to occasional flooding. These polyphs need more room to grow due to their increased size, so their seeds have hair-like trichomes to better take advantage of wind distribution. Instead of using all leaves to reproduce, they have specialized leaves to grow these seed pods, which no longer serve a function in photosynthesis. Each seed pod contains 20 seeds. Even though they take advantage of wind distribution, these larger seeds are often not carried very far, creating sparse forests of Minotrees.
