Porgatalus anemosporus

From OurFoodChain

Descended from Porgatalus forensia and residing in Zone O, this herbaceous polyph has a stem derived from the connection between the roots and the leaves in its ancestor that holds most of its 8-20 leaves higher off the ground. Its seed pods, each containing 20 seeds, grow at the tips of some of its leaves; but unlike its ancestor, P. animosporus doesn't drop them on the ground--instead, they only partially detach, and a gust of wind breaks them free. This wind-based distribution prevents the parent and offspring from competing with one another by ensuring the seeds land further away. It can grow up to 12 inches tall (8 inches from the stem + 4 inches from the leaves) and is fed on by W. dontria. It matures in 3-4 months; though it needs a bit more energy than its ancestor to grow, it has little competition with its ancestor for sunlight thanks to its height, so the difference is negligible. Like its ancestor, it is native to Zone O and grows on the main and low-lying islands, with a less significant presence on the latter due to occasional flooding.
