Extinct (March 29th, 2020): Loss of food(A. iscariota)

Testudius scythae is descended from Testudius cliasi and lives in the depths of zone 24. The shelves along the western-most islands of zone 5 have recently had a series of small landslides into the edges of zone 24, displacing many Testudius cliasi in their burrows and forcing them to adapt. The T. Scythae specifically has developed thick armor from their previous plating with a flatter form. The T. Scythae retains both its coloration and its burrowing habits (now useful for warmth and resting places). However, this sukopod's frontal claws have become sharper in order to cut and extract masses of algae from colonies. When the T. Scythae has acquired its food, it curls around it with its protective plates and eats the algae inside of its protective bubble. When this happens, it will most commonly be somewhat burrowed. This dietary behavior is used to protect the T. Scythae's meal from competitor, and itself from potential threats. Strangely, the T. Scythae seems to prefer red-hued algae (detected by its now reflective eyes), and usually (but not always) consumes A. Iscariota and A. Redensis as a result. The antennae are used for most sensory functions, however.
