Murutentus composterus
Murutentus porphura was originally a parasite of Coralius species, in the absence of Coralius hosts M. porphura would die. M. composterus has evolved to produce and secrete its own enzymes to decompose organic matter and no longer relies on a host. Originally they had to wait for their host release enzymes to feed but now they decompose without reliance on another organism. Upon extracting most nutrients from a body they leave in droves like their ancestor once did to escape the death of its host.
To decompose carcasses they secrete enzymes to dissolve it. They are similar to their ancestor, reproducing every 25-30 minutes and being about 4-5 micrometers, the biggest difference is how instead they decompose carcasses and no longer parasitize C. certia.
