Mothman Wyvern

From OurFoodChain

Evolved from D. saxonanos these species evolved to be better at flying taking less effort to fly with a large wingspan able to glide more frequently by widening their wing flaps until it joins until the tail this can help repel predators due to a larger size and intimidate their own kind when competition arises.Their lower jaw became more dominant as a mild mutation which helps them bite and kill their prey easier as the bottom part of the neck in most skeletons are weaker then the top part where the spinal column is usually located

Found in zone D they grow up to 3 feet long and have a wingspan of 5.2 feet( its larger size is able to help take down larger wyverns such as T. katharagnathus and P.unculodon it is also used for intimidation purposes). During the night they hunt A.morspotatori, A.peregris, P.vorax, D.saxonanos, D.albatrogornis, D. brunus, D.oviyerious, T. katharagnathus, P.unculodon, T. jumpus, R. occisorostrus, D.vespertilios and T.takydromus. Being active in the night they fly above the trees then strike sleeping prey aiming for the night. They are occasionally active during dusk and dawn to find mates or when they unable to find prey during the night. When sleeping during the day, dusk or dawn some of their prey became their predator(D.tromerovenator and T. katharagnathus(only young)) as they can only sleep above tree polyphs being exposed to being killed easily as their wings can easily tear up from the branches of the polyphs. They are still able to wake up easily as their ears will help them hear the flap of their predators which can warn them that they are gonna be killed, this would allow it to wake up and show its large flashy wings to intimidate their predators.

They are able to fly for up to 2.5-3.5 hours with a quarter less of their stamina needed. Males get a jet black or very dark green color with their crest, beard and tail feathers being bright red, while females have a jet black or very dark green color with no bright red feathers. Their front pattern of their wings have stripes with 2 large orange spots to give intimidating looks at predators and their own kind showing they are health and a formidable threat and with eye color are tan yellow to mimic its eyespot patterns on their wings to make themselves look bigger to on looking attackers(Healthier specimens would mean better development of pigments on the eyespot) The coloration of the eye makes it more prominent and this the eyespots are more effective at being reflections of their eyes.

When breeding during autumn males manipulate their throats to make noises to attract females during the dawn and dusk. When a female found male, the male will attempt to flirt swaying with its antennae (shows they are able to use more force and energy to sway their antennae since its just developed and their control is not that well so they need to use lots of energy to sway extremely fast which would need good strength and good health indicating strength and health) with the female to get acceptance of the male, when the female accepts his offering they will mate and mate for life. The both parents build their nest on trees which they would lay 4-7 eggs(only 2-5 survive). When the eggs hatch the female would raise their young while the male brings food until they are able to fly and fend for themselves which they would chase them off.
