Gigantocytus rhizoma

From OurFoodChain
Extinct (February 26th, 2019): No reason provided.

Descended from F. primus which had made it zone 4. It inhabits biofilm, detritus, and the masses of marine snow that was blown in from z2's current. It's mycelium releases enzymes that mines nutrients from its surroundings. Due to the excess of food, it now uses its vacuole as a storage unit, similar to a plants rhizome. It is capable of living on its own, but frequently forms partnerships with Aquaductus networkus. Since A. networkus has dedicated so much of its volume to its tube, G. rhizoma can act as a nutrient storage space as well as a chemical factory that processes, optimize, and manufacture compounds for their use. It will occasionally send a zoospores into networkus' tube to either act as a transport unit or to grow another fungus. They also act as checkpoints for A. networkus' grow.
