Diving Cormorant Wyvfin
Nesting Site: Zone F
Hunting Site: Zone 3
Unlike with Dracowyverious neofoundus which continued developing a throat pouch and unlike with its ancestor Dracowyverious thalassomoloch, Dracowyverious urioportus has taken to a lifestyle of solitarily diving underwater up to 20 meters in depth to catch its food in order to avoid competition with other species of sea wyvern.
Dracowyverious urioportus has reverted its colors back to a darker color in order to be less visible in the waters that it hunts in. The snout has elongated even further and snatches aquatic creatures on the side. A somewhat larger ribcage with larger lungs allows Dracowyverious urioportus to comfortably hold its breath for one minute before resurfacing.
A fully-grown Dracowyverious urioportus is approximately one meter in length with a wingspan of 110 centimeters. It is poorer at flight and spends more of its time in the water, but can fly by quickly flapping its wings and riding the wind currents if absolutely necessary (such as a storm for example).
Dracowyverious urioportus will dig dens and nest in pairs on areas just above the beaches of Zone F, so that the family den is not affected by high tides but is still close to the ocean. Males with the longest snouts and those with facial warts hold the highest status and are sexually preferred by females. Parents switch turns taking care of the nest and hunting food for the young. Like with Dracowyverious thalassomoloch, they nest in small colonies of up to 40, but are not as sociable and do not help separate families like how they help their own. 2-3 eggs are laid and the chicks are taught to swim and hunt by the parents as they age, and usually leave the nest within six weeks.
