Water Chori

(Redirected from Crooksoluis amfivios)

As the many species of Crooksoluis thrived all over Zone C, it resulted in increased competition. Faced with both its ancestors and their descendants, some populations of Crooksoluis polycaulis began to move away from terrestrial habitats, and began to colonize the shores of Zone C1. Over time, they developed adaptations to live in the shallower parts of the lake in order to survive, becoming a new species entirely.

10 cm tall
Originates in Zones C1 and C

Much like their ancestor, Crooksoluis amfivios have between three to five stems which grow two leaves each. These leaves have moved higher up the stems to avoid being underwater when possible, since they still possess stomata. They still photosynthesize primarily with their leaves along with their stems to an extent. Where they have bigger differences is their adaptations to a more aquatic existence. Due to being partially underwater, they had to develop a way to carry air from the stems to the roots and vice versa. As a result, the species has developed air-filled channels inside of their stems to allow oxygen to diffuse to the bottom of the polyph more efficiently. Much like their ancestors, the berries encourage consumption by organisms living in and around the lake, who spread the digestion-resistant seeds via excretion. They particularly thrive in the shallower parts of Zone C1 and the beaches of Zone C that surround the lake.
