Chomping Roomba

From OurFoodChain
(Redirected from Capilliarmus colescalptor)

Capilliarmus spikaspikaspik face intraspecific and interspecific competition for food. Acutognathids feed on Cocktrees' juices but nothing was preying on the stems or roots. The Roombas native to the zone could avoid competition with other base-consumers with this diet. This to speciation.

35 centimeters long

Chomping Roomba (C. colescalptor) adapted to prey on the Cocktrees, their beaks became larger and developed an underbite. The underbite allowed them to shear off chunks of stem or exposed roots. Chomping Roombas primarily feed on Cocktrees and the roots of A. haberefortis and O. flacoherbas are also consumed on occasion, with the underbite acting as a shovel. Their fermenting chambers have grown larger to ferment greater quantities at a time resulting in the Chomping Roombas growing larger to house this larger fermenting chamber. While they do retain the chemoreceptive hairs of their ancestors, they primarily rely on their eyes to spot their food and dangers.

Iniectognathus acidonenum is a threat to Chomping Roombas. This led to more spines being present to further act as a deterrent to their predators. Their beaks make effective weapons against their predators since they can just as easily cut into the flesh of their attackers.

They have 5 chambers within their digestive tracts with the large fermenting chamber housing Polyphagii duocytus.

Chomping Roomba gather up in groups of 5-7 and build mounds of dirt and dead polyph matter. These mounds have a W shaped burrow entrance with a ventilation hole on the ceiling along with a secondary waste chamber. Once the time to breed comes around, the group will gather together bits of food from polyphs such as Humilipropogandos protosporia or members of the Aruraherba genus alongside half of a shed exoskeleton before each laying 10-20 eggs on it before covering it over with the other half of the shed exoskeleton. The adults occasionally feed on about half the eggs during their incubation. Once the eggs hatch, the young are about an inch long and take a year to molt once. They will feed on their ancestral diet of low growing polyphs and detritus until they reach about half their adult size when they then begin to feed on the Cocktrees. They reach sexual maturity at around 30 centimeters long.
