Calidiuedraco draco

From OurFoodChain
Extinct (April 8th, 2020): Draco rhenoscallium

Species name: Draco Draco
Ancestor: Draco pinguis
Zone(s): B
Size: 60cm

Reproduction: similarly to pinguis they mate in the spring and lay the same number of eggs as pinguis and lay them in a ditch nest that take 3 weeks to mature and young take 6 weeks to sexually mature though Draco Draco females lack the red color on the throat as it’s used as a sexual display in males

Food/Sustenance: they are omnivores like their ancestor, feeding on various Polyphs (L. clearensis, M.sustensa, M. Stellafrons,C. Yellionuis,) and small muscals (V. Drillus and cocotus,T. Lignapurpla, D. Purpurus) in the zone

General description: they are very similar to D. Pinguis anatomically, both having limbs held under their bodies, markings that have increased vascularization in the skin used for thermoregulation and thin crests on their heads used for species identification. Their markings are different from the ancestor and are spotted as it is better for breaking up the outline of the animal and their internal anatomy is somewhat different as Draco Draco evolved a more efficient respiratory system in order to more effectively use its energy and uses the enlarged gular pouch on its neck to force air into the lungs so it is better able to breath and run at the same time compared to its ancestor which allows it to better run from predators like D. raptordracornis and V. Audioacrus. The more efficient respiratory system also helps it maintain a slightly higher body temp around 10 degrees higher than the surroundings
