Bush Dracuk

From OurFoodChain

Descended from Podovolare vorax that became more omnivorous to avoid competition from the several other carnivores in the region as such they used their juvenile stage (which are fully herbivorous until around 5 weeks old) and retain their plant eating capabilities while also feeding on a little bit of meat. It grows larger at 2-2.5 feet long and has become crepuscular.

P. velocius spend much of their time rummaging around for food while staying alert for its many predators such as the several species of Tapsi that inhabit the region. They grew to a larger size then their ancestor avoid predation from smaller carnivores like D. brunus along with a larger browsing range. While they are pretty much deaf, they make up for this by having sharp eyesight and a keen sense of smell. If they detect a predator, they will immediately bolt away and use their long legs tipped with hoof-like claws (which are shorter and boarder then their ancestors for greater surface area contact to help with weight distribution) to cover lots of ground in a short amount of time.

They include vegetation and seed in their diet Eating the seeds of M. Barreqhumus, U. dicaulis, M. firmumsus, and U. procerus. They also eat B. ateras, B. litorus, and
they especially like the young leaves of M. arcaica, as they provide accessible nutrients along with sugar.

While vegetation does make a large portion of their diet they will feed on carrion and juvenile D. brunus.

Being solitary P. velocius do not usually encounter one another until the mating season and their mating season behavior is quite similar to their ancestor. A male will guard a female and chase off rivals until the female is ready to mate. After mating the female digs a small mounds out of sticks, dirt, and their own feces. Once the nest is set up they lay around 40 eggs then leave them to survive on their own. When the young hatch they are already capable of running away from a threats. This is necessary as many get eaten by the several species of carnivores in the region before they reach sexual maturity.
