Zone E, specifically along the coast and at the banks of Zone 17

This descendant of Subplortatus phyllosymplegmus resides near water, allowing it to grow larger than other desert polyphs--averaging around 15 feet in height, supported by a trunk 2-3 feet wide. Like its ancestor, it has long leaves; these are slightly thicker than its ancestors’ to retain more water, but most of the water it holds is still stored in its trunk like its ancestor. The leaves can be as long as 3 feet near the top of the tree, but are progressively shorter in the clumps that grow further down the trunk. It reproduces asexually and disperses small black seeds via wind, though they will not sprout unless there is sufficient water such as near the coast and along the banks of Zone 17.
