Bulbus eufloatus is a descendant of Bulbus floatus that no longer requires the presence floating detritus to float and can occur by themselves on the surface of the water. They’ve gained this ability by becoming flatter, exposing more surface area to the water causing buoyant forces to keep themselves a float. This also exposes more surface area, relative to their volume, for the purposes of photosynthesis. The nutrient storage structure is still quite large relative to its body. Since water still has less nutrient than the substrate located at the benthic zone, it’s roots have more branch out more to increase the intake of nutrients. It’s reproduces via spores like its ancestors.
