This algae comes from the A. greenensis and lives within the freezing depths of zone 11. The main development of this species is the developmemt of a black coloration in order to absorb more light for food and staying warm. Additionally, individual specimens have developed tendrils that can either act as flagella for locomation or to latch onto fellow specimens and other structures. This species can be found tangled into large clouds that drift through the water.
