Descended from Taxonomum britala from Zone 3, Taxonomum flumitala has started growing within the rivers of Zone 16 and has adapted its osmotic salinity by lowering the target amount of salt in the cells so that it doesn't over hydrate in the lower-salinity environments. Once it adapted, it was easily able to grow in these rivers as there was not much polyph competition and the currents quickly spread their seeds.

Taxonomum flumitala grows at the muddy bottoms of these rivers and grows arms that can extend up to three-hundred five centimeters (305 cm) in length and branch off a maximum of four (4) times. If the end of an arm encounters a barrier (such as a log or a large rock) it will bend and grow around it in a random direction. The seeds are growm at the ends of the arms to maximize spreading efficiency like as in its ancestor, although in some portions of the river the seeds will already be carried by the water to spread. Due to less access to sodium, this polyph will spread its branches at a rate of half a millimeter (0.5mm) per day.
