A 3μm single celled organism living in Zone 3. This organism is distinguished by having a stiffened membrane reinforced by proteins, one large flagella for swimming, and a ring of eighty micovilli covered in cilia. O. flagellata is pelagic filter feeder that uses its microvilli to catch particulate matter and moves it down towards the cell where the particulate matter they are phagocytized. It forces water over the microvilli by swimming with its single large flagella. It reproduces by mitosis.
