Helix pestis is a descendant of Helix pesssulus that lives in zone F, as pessulus’ only food sources dwindled, pestis emerged, you see, the one surviving prey of pessulus, the drifting furry plort, had developed a tricky strategy, it hid its seeds inside its flesh, masking them from most helid’s sense of taste/smell, pestis, according to that, is the worst case scenario for P.summapellicius’ plan, you see it now accepts the flesh of the drifting furry plort as food due to those who’s sense of taste accepted flesh as food survived, meaning that it now not only consumes the seeds of summapellicius, but the leaves, the stem, and just about everything else too, H.pestis’ feeding strategy often involves toppling the plort by chewing through the stem, which is just because the stem is what is generally in reach, and then consuming what it can until it is full, though it does seem disastrous it actually promotes the release of the plort’s seeds as they are released from the parent when it topples, allowing them to drift out of harm’s way for the most part.

Another adaptation up H.pestis’ arsenal are its advanced smelling antennae, though they may look like hands, they do not provide any dexterity, instead they allow the antennae to pick up scents on the breeze, which is important as they can now no longer just sit and feed at their leisure due to the fact that they knock over the plort in a fatal way, like their ancestor they are also blind and also hold their eggs under their shells, though odontotria spp. can still survive on the shell of H.pestis they generally do not fare as well as their host is more ‘nomadic’, often they group up not because of social behaviors but rather because they smell the same plort.
A group of Plort topplers is called a Lumber.

Due to generally being more spread out due to their sense of smell causing them to wander a bit and not having a very great amount of Odontotria sp. growing on their shells, H.pestis often is found climbing up tall objects to catch the rain or taking a dip in a puddle to regain moisture.
