Descendants of O. planii, they continue to filter feed on the floor of zone 8. However, they have larger siphons to get more food, and a larger expulsion siphon at the top to deal with the increased flow of nutrients and waste. This greater amount of food allows them to grow and mature much faster, thus giving them an edge over more slowly-growing and -reproducing Ossurans. They still reproduce by releasing gametes seasonally, however, their greater sustenance intake means they reproduce in larger groups. When burrowing into the floor, they will spin such that some of the debris will be launched into the air, providing a larger array of matter to filter for newly grown foraminus.
