Odontotria macres

From OurFoodChain

Odontotria macres is a descendant of Odontotria siccumorphus that arose after migrating into zone 19 alongside the descendants of Helix pessulus.

O. macres is no longer an obligate symbiont of Helixes. Instead, it sticks onto any surfaces such as rocks or helix shells. Due to zone 19’s harsh currents, adhesive and cohesives are no longer able to alone. To sufficiently attach itself onto suitable substrate, it secretes a mixture of proteins and macromolecules all over its body that acts as glue, helping it stick to surfaces. To deal with the change in osmolarity, it has lowered the amounts of salt in its body and becoming turgid. It reproduces by fragmentation; fragments will drift until they encounter and stick onto suitable substrate
