This moss-like organism grows a long stem covered in minute overlapping leaves, which will grow in both directions. It develops little roots to attach itself to the floor and absorbs water. When it rains, it releases spores from between its leaves. The spores travel in the water flowing down the stem to meet each other and make new individuals. They have an internal cavity full of liquid where they store sugar and water.
