Coastal areas of Zone F

In response to the ever-increasing competition for fishing, this relative of Dracowyverious caerulea has taken an alternative route.

Rather than fishing for seawater creatures, Dracowyverious stercorarius feasts on carrion near the ocean. During the mating seasons of smaller ocean-based wyverns, they are not afraid to fly above and attempt to steal the unfortunate chicks of Dracowyverious caerulea and Dracowyverious thalassomoloch if they strand too far from the nests.

Dracowyverious stercorarius grows up to 70 centimeters in length and has a wingspan of up to 100 centimeters (one meter). Like with their ancestors, Dracowyverious stercorarius has sexual dimorphism with the males having dark blue coats and females having brownish-blue coats. Both sexes have specks of color throughout their body. Males assert their dominance by showing off their black heads and kicking at eachother with large talons. Both sexes are known to fight over corpses and chicks.

Dracowyverious stercorarius nest on trees near the coast and dig small holes to lay 3-5 eggs in. As in Dracowyverious caerulea, the male is left by himself to fend for the chicks, searching for carrion twice a day and feeding the chicks scraps of the remains. The oldest two chicks will usually kick the younger ones out of the nest- an example of sibling rivalry. The chicks are taught to fly by the male and are sent away after six weeks to mature on their own.
