Lorensia fernus
L. fernus is the first member of genus Lorensus and evolved from Lorensia clearensis. It has exchanged long strands of grass for smaller, more round leaves. They grow merely 6-8 inches tall, taking about 12 weeks to go from seedling to mature. After they’re mature, any rise in humidity will entice them to drop their seeds. If an animal walks by and brushes against the seeds, they will detach from the plant and stick to the animal until they’re washed off (typically from rain). These plants can often be seen lining the shores of Zone F, nearby P. forensus. This species likes to occupy open areas and when they’re in large groups they hold moisture well. Their circle stem at the middle is a dark green with the leaves sprouting outward, taking a light green color.
