Linialacina aquafera
Size: 100-200micrometer Linialacina aquafera is a descendant of Linialacina byssumcoda that spread to zone 17. It feeds on the microscopic variant of Microalgearous greana, an organism that’s functionally similar to its previous prey item, Libraphotocyanus cytosol. To osmoregulate, a vacuole, located near the tail, will absorb surplus water from osmosis and release it via the same mechanism as it does when egg[cell]-laying. To replenish lost salts, they will travel to the benthic zone, using their eyespot to help them determine depth, and feed on Gigantocytus taisa and Aquaductus sarcina. When feeding on G. taisa or A. sarcina, the flagellas situated on their oral grooves constrict around a cell and and starts to pull on it. The other flagellas swim in the opposite direction, eventually ripping the cell off and bringing it into their gullet. They reproduce the same way as their ancestor.
