Laminaralga magnideus
Evolving from the same intraspecific drama as its ancestor Taxonomum megafolium involving stem height is Taxonomum magnideus, whose specific name literally translates to "Size God." Taxonomum magnideus is a fast grower, capable of raising half an entire meter in height each day and growing up to ten meters (10m) in height. As their sunlight demands have increased to the heightened metabolism, this species can only successfully grow in depths of forty meters (40m) or less from the ocean surface.
Taxonomum magnideus grows much taller but is also skinnier itself, allowing for these polyphs growing closer to eachother without worrying about competition as much. Combined with their specialized depth requirements and their fast growth speed, they seem to form their own "underwater forest" ecosystems throughout Zone 3.
Taxonomum magnideus continuously produces seed pods on the sides of its stem that loosen with age and are either eaten or are drifted off by ocean currents, in the hopes that some seeds spread to new habitable areas to continue the next generation. Taxonomum magnideus does not have much anchor support and can easily be carried off itself and provide food for organisms, especially when weakening with age, but are replaced with newer Taxonomum magnideus polyphs that take their place.
