A. yellowus is a species of algae that grows in the deepest parts of Zone 4. It evolved from A. greenensis and is still dark green, yet releases large yellow seed pods. These seed pods are released year-round, always being produced and released within an 8 week period. The species grows in large patches, and can be up to 5 feet tall. Seed pods hang off of various different parts of the plant. When detached, their yellow color attracts animals which will think of it as prey. When a predator tries to eat this plant, it finds that it’s toxic and spits the seed pod back out somewhere else. If the seed pod is not picked up, it simply grows a few seeds nearby
