Iadwesf

From OurFoodChain

Common name: Iadwesf (Ladwesf being an abbreviation of “I am done with everyone’s shit... fung”)
Zone: 4
Size: 50μm
Ancestor: Gigantocytus armamentus

G. armamentus was pushed off onto low quality barren rocks due to competition from Fungera fuscimalase and eventually back to F. fuscimalase due to competition from its own roommates, other G. armamentus. It was done with being an ecological push over and started to dabble in biochemistry to improve its situation.

G. antifuscimalus is able to produce noncompetitive fuscimalase inhibitor that binds to the enzyme before it can do any harm. This enzyme allows them to directly compete with F. fuscimalus. However this inhibitor also allow other decomposers to compete with both it and F. fuscimalus.

Aside from that, G. antifuscimalus is mostly unchanged from its ancestors. It retains the ability to create zoospores for the purposes of decomposing away from its main body and exchanging nutrients with other individuals.
They are still able to capture drifting particulate matter, though they are less reliant on this than their ancestor. They still reproduce via zoospores, however, the zoospores cannot produce the fuscimalase inhibitor by themselves, and need to store a limited amount of it to travel away from their parent. This also gives them a limited travel distance before they have to settle and produce their own inhibitors.
