Extinct (February 26th, 2019): Outcompeted by Odontotria luteiericius

O. laspimorphus is descended from populations of O. viridissima that started living on the shells of Helix bullous. It has adapted to cling the the shell as H. bullous moves which allows it to get more direct sunlight when H. bullous leaves the water. It holds water on the surface of its host's shell through cohesive and adhesive forces so when its host leaves the water it can stay moist for a while. O. laspimorphus has also adapted to go temporarily dormant by halting all cellular processes and drying out and waiting for its host to enter the water again. It reproduces by fragmentation of small ~1cm squared pieces when it is in the water, the small fragments hang in the water near the coast until an H. bullous accidentally picks them up and then they start growing. Lives on H. pessulusin Zone F
