This organism grows in the seafloor of zone 4, with two stages of its lifecycle. First, it begins as a zoospore, propelled along by it flagella. It can travel like this for days, even weeks with little to no nutrients at all. Once it ends up in a suitable location, it will start to form hyphae, long strands of single cells that serve as the body of the second stage and gather nutrients. The hyphae of the second stage spread out into a long network of mycelium, eventually sending strands up to the surface of the seafloor to release more zoospores to spread the fungus. The organism is very simple, having only the mycelial hyphae and no other type of cell, although still qualifying as a eukaryote due to its somewhat complex interior structure. The zoospores, on the other hand, could be classified as prokaryotes, due to the basic contents of the single cell type serving only to transmit the fungus. The zoospores of the first stage generally get to a size of between 5 and 10 μm, while a full mycelium network in the second stage can reach up to half a centimeter in radius.
