Algearous ivorae is descended from Algearous redensis and lives within the depths of zone 24. This algae settles down near hydrothermic vents for nutrients. The A. ivorae has become mostly translucent with a white tint. Colonies of A. ivorae rest on the seafloor and extend upwards in a spiral that becomes unwound near the top. When zones of the colony exert a certain amount of energy, the bulbs that this species has developed give off brilliant, white pulses of light. Typically, sections of a colony will light up randomly. However, when in distress, threatened zones will violently pulse in an attempt to either scare the threat away with the light or the discharged heat. Due to the translucent manner of these plants, light almost appears to flow along it's veins. Reproduces through cell division.
