General description: T. pelagicus is larger than its closest relatives H. predata to help defend itself from
its predators like A. neofoundus, A. tridactylus,B. mimicus,D. katharagnathus, ,N. bonii,H. lunga,
and P. unculodon. they are more adapted for high speed movement than their relatives though they still primarily use their pectoral fins for movement and their caudal fin for steering but might use their expanded caudal fins for extra boosts of speed to escape predators or chase prey. overall their fins have become shorter in order to produce less drag as they swim . their gills have changed from a horizontal to vertical position similar to their ancestor duraspinus for water to more easily pass over them and producing less drag, allowing them to move even faster

their teeth, like their ancestor, are set in whorls and like predata their teeth are larger in the front of the mouth than in the back. and their coloration has changed to better hide themselves from the many larger predators they live, their bellies have become lighter while their backs have gotten darker in order to help them better blend into the background of the ocean and they are overall more blue than H. predata also to better blend in to the ocean
